The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, in cooperation with the Subcommittee on Renewable Energy emanating from the Iraqi Parliamentary Energy and Electricity Committee and under the sponsorship of the President of the University of Kerbala, Professor Dr Bassem Khalil Nayel Al-Saidi, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Assistant Professor Dr Haider Nazim Aziz Al-Mahanna, held a scientific symposium under the title (Renewable Energy in Iraq : Feasibility and challenges, its most important sources and the law regulating it)
Where lecturers specialized in the field of renewable energies, Professor Dr Ali Abdul Razzaq Al-Taher from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Karbala, and Professor Dr Ali Jaafar Al-Husseini from Al-Zahraa University for Girls, gave two lectures on feasibility And the challenges of establishing alternative energy plants and their most important sources in Iraq, while Representative Nofuth Hussein Al-Moussawi reviewed the draft law regulating renewable energy in Iraq.
The symposium was also chaired by the Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Assistant Professor Dr Muayyad Salim Koud, and the membership of Assistant Professor Dr Marwa Muhammad Mara’i and Assistant Professor Dr Yahya Jasim Harbi, in the presence of the Representatives, members of the Parliamentary Renewable Energy Committee, Mister Hassan Al-Assadi, Representative Mister Amanj Mahmoud, and Representative Zikra Al-Rudaini. In the presence of the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Governorate Affairs, Mr. Jaber Mutjaar Al-Ziyadi, and a large group of professors, representatives of state departments, researchers, and specialists, and after constructive discussions between the MPs and specialists in renewable energy engineering, the symposium concluded with several fruitful recommendations that enhance the solidity of the renewable energy law legislation in Iraq.
